We’ve just come back from a lovely trip to Palma, and while the holiday itself was dreamy, the airport side of things could definitely have been smoother. I’ve recently learned about an airport concierge service at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and I genuinely wish we’d known more about it before flying. I wrongly assumed it was just someone greeting you at your car, turns out, it’s so much more than that, and we’ll absolutely be booking it next time.

If you’re someone who finds airports overwhelming, has mobility or health issues, or just wants the smoothest experience possible, this kind of support can really take the pressure off. I’ve pulled together some of our top tips to make your time at the airport easier, calmer, and far less stressful.
1. Book assistance if you need it
If you live with a medical condition or disability that makes long queues or walking tricky, booking airport assistance is a game-changer. Most airports, including Liverpool, are brilliant with this. You’ll be guided through check-in, security, and even boarding if you need it, and it genuinely makes a huge difference.
2. Give yourself extra time
I know everyone says this, but having time to spare means you’re not panicking if traffic’s slow or queues are long. Arriving earlier lets you move at your own pace, grab a snack, and take a breather before boarding. Liverpool Airport has plenty of seating, decent food options, and even quiet spots to chill out, which we definitely appreciated.
3. Consider Fast Track security
We’ve used this a few times now and it’s something we always look for when booking flights. Especially if you find standing in lines tough or just hate the faff, Fast Track lets you skip the queues and get through security in minutes. It’s usually just a few pounds and worth every penny for the ease.
4. Pre-order your duty free
I only started doing this recently, but it’s such a good trick, browse online before your flight, reserve what you want, and collect it at the airport. It saves loads of time wandering around the shops, and means you don’t have to worry about stock or carry big bottles through security. Handy for both hand luggage trips and long-haul hauls.
5. Don’t overlook airport concierge services
Now that I know what this actually includes, I’m genuinely annoyed we didn’t book it for our last trip. Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s concierge service can help with check-in, security, and even escorting you through the whole process. It’s perfect if you’ve got accessibility needs, anxiety, or just want to start your holiday feeling calm and looked after. Next time, we’re booking it without question.
Airports don’t have to be stressful. With a little planning, a few pre-booked extras, and knowing what support’s available, you can start your trip relaxed and ready, not frazzled before you’ve even boarded.
