Gum disease can have a wider impact on your health

Through doing research into the benefits of switching to sugar free gum, I have found a number of links being formed between the health of your gums and the overall health of your body, with some studies showing that gum disease can have an impact on your cardiovascular health and even tying poor gum health to predicting Alzheimer’s Disease. This is why I choose a gum that is going to taste great but also prevent unnecessary decay on my teeth.

Chewing can improve your exercise routine

One of the great things about chewing is that it is actually so rhythmic in its nature that it can have a positive impact on your exercise routine. Even if your daily exercise is going out for a walk, your body notices the rate of your chewing and works harder to match that pace, taking your exercise routine up to the next level.

Avoid costly trips to the dentist

One of the great things about chewing gum is that it makes your mouth produce saliva, which naturally gives your teeth a barrier and wipes away anything that is going to cause decay, giving you a bit of a boost between brushing your teeth. However, this is only the case if you use sugar free gum; if you chew on gum that has sugar in it, you are putting that sugar directly on your teeth and letting it get in between any gaps when you chew, which can cause further problems down the line. Ensuring you stick with sugar free gum means you can avoid costly trips to the dentist.

Gum helps regulate your anxiety

Chewing gum is actually a fantastic tool for anxiety, which is something that most people deal with on a fairly regular basis. Whether its a day of work stress or a longer term issue with anxiety, there is something calming in the rhythmic motion of chewing gum; it gives the brain something else to focus on, while the movement soothes your central nervous system and you are left feeling more calm overall.

When you look good, you feel good

Life isn’t all about the way that you look, but making the effort to look after your smile is undoubtedly going to make you feel better about yourself, helping you feel more confident and outgoing. And when your smile has been looked after, you will inevitably want to smile more to show it off, so chewing sugar free gum becomes another great mood booster.
