Renovating your home might be one of the most stressful things you can do in your lifetime, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Between exciting new living spaces, boosting your motivation and creating positive spaces to make memories, here are five reasons you need to renovate your home this Summer.
Increase the value of your home
We don’t want to think about packing up and selling our homes, especially when we are creating exciting new spaces within them and dreaming up the life we will live there, but ultimately renovating your home is a great way to increase the value. You never know where life could take you – a new job opportunity may have you packing up and moving for example, so knowing you have done everything you can to look after the value of your home is a must.
Keep longevity in mind
Thinking about the future is not only essential in terms of the finances of your home, but also in terms of keeping it accessible and usable to you and your family. For example, you might want to create more indoor space and get planning permission for a home extension, giving yourself a nice sunroom or an office or kitchen extension so you can work at home. You may also want to make your home more accessible in general, such as creating a wet room space in case you ever find that you need it – it is much easier to do these things in advance.
Keep up with current trends
Fashions are always changing and evolving, so what might have been a totally up-to-date look in the 90s may now make your home look drab and dated. Whether internal or external (or both!), renovating is a great way to keep up with the times and leave your home looking fresh and modern.
Avoid the Winter weather
Any architect of such a big project will know that the weather always needs to be factored into the equation. Frost and flooding in particular can cause havoc in a building project, so you need more consistent and dry weather when you are building your home. This makes Summer the perfect time to get to work on your project – although there will be the occasional rainstorm thanks to living in good old England, you are also going to get the most amount of warmth and sunshine for your works to go ahead.
An investment for the future
While most of us are living at the moment and enjoying living in our homes, it is always worth keeping it at the back of your mind that you might be selling your home one day. Whether it is when you are ready to move on to pastures new, or when you are no longer around and your home is being left to your next of kin to sell for a new family to make their memories, renovating your home is a great way to ensure it has a great future.
