Bras come in various styles and designs, each serving a different purpose and achieving a different look. Although bras are 99% for providing support, you can also get some that add a touch of elegance to an outfit too. Different types of bras cater to different needs, so let’s look into some of my favourites, all stocked at Belle Lingerie.

Non-Wired Bras
Non-wired bras, also known as soft cup and wire-free bras, offer comfort and flexibility. They are definitely my favourites to wear about the house and whilst exercising too. Although most people would go for a sports bra, I find non-wired bras to be the most comfortable when moving more. They are designed without underwire, making them an excellent choice for those seeking a more relaxed fit. Non-wired bras are ideal for everyday wear and are often preferred for their ability to provide gentle support without the discomfort of underwire.
Balcony Bras
Balcony bras, also referred to as balconette bras, are known for their wide-set straps and a lower-cut cup design, which helps create a flattering neckline. Perfect for lower cup tops, not v-neck ones though as often the gore will be showing. They provide lift and support, making them a popular choice for wearing when you want a boost and a dramatic look. I always feel that balcony bras are so flattering and the Boost Me Up by Curvy Kate is my current favourite.
Longline Bras
Longline bras are characterised by a band that extends further down the torso, providing additional support and shaping. These bras can have aesthetic appeal, adding a pretty touch to an outfit, or they can offer shaping similar to a corset. Some people like to wear these underneath a blazer, wearing lingerie as going out clothes and it looks amazing. I personally love a longline bra for nipping in my waist a little more. In the right dress it works perfectly. Longline bras can be found in both wired and non-wired designs, catering to different preferences.
Plunge Bras
Plunge bras are designed with a deep neckline, making them perfect for low-cut or plunging tops and dresses. They are crafted to enhance cleavage and provide a flattering shape. Plunge bras typically have angled cups that sit your breasts perfectly apart and work in plunging necklines. I sometimes find these can make my cleavage disappear though!
Whether you’re looking for everyday comfort, a touch of elegance, or a flattering silhouette, there’s a bra style to suit every preference and occasion. Understanding the different types of bras can help you make informed choices when shopping for intimate apparel.
